First place of the Evergreen Conference is now solely Rochester’s, as the Warrior softball team defeated Montesano 12-1 in five innings on Monday.
The win not only kept Rochester undefeated in league play, but it also handed the Bulldogs their first league loss of the season.
It didn’t take long for the Warriors to take control, as they scored all 12 of their runs in the first two innings of the game.
Layna Demers had another great two-way day, as she allowed just four hits and an unearned run in the circle while adding a home run and driving in three runs at the plate.
Cheyenne Justice added a pair of hits and three RBIs of her own, while Addison Morgan added a hit and drove in two runs.
McKenna Vassar, Hailey Boyd, and Piper Quarnstrom also drove in one run each.
The Warrior (11-3, 6-0 1A Evergreen) will look to build on their lead atop the league standings when they face Montesano on the road on Thursday.
