The Rochester volleyball team lost its first league game of the season on Thursday, falling in Montesano 15-25, 24-26, 23-25.
Katie Lay had eight kills to lead the offense, while Lexi DuPont added six kills, five blocks, and four aces. Jessanie Quarles had 33 digs to lead the defense, Karmae Hines added 17, and Charlie Culp dished out 13 assists.
Despite the outcome, Rochester coach Courtney Baird was thrilled with the team’s effort.
“The girls played the best they have all season,” Baird said. “Lexi was a game changer tonight at the net, and so was Jassanie on defense. Everyone was applying what we’ve been working on in practice, and we played as a team.”
Rochester (3-6, 1-1 1A Evergreen) will return home to host Tenino on Tuesday.
