The Rochester boys basketball team’s losing streak is up to a dozen, as the Warriors lost 53-35 at home against Montesano on Friday.
Rochester trailed by six after one and by 12 at halftime, but the Bulldogs doubled their advantage in the third by outscoring the Warriors 21-9.
“They came out and made a good adjustment against our zone, and they hit some shots,” Rochester coach Caleb Sells said. “I probably just stuck in a zone too long … That’s on me.”
Offensively, it just wasn’t Rochester’s night. The Warriors shot just 12 for 67 from the floor, including a mark of just 4 for 29 from deep.
Sells said that many of those looks were good shot attempts, the ball just wasn’t falling for them.
“We just had a heck of a time putting the ball in the hoop,” Sells said. “They just hit a higher percentage than they did. That’s kind of how it goes.”
Emmitt Mancuso finished with 10 points, while Kole Smith scored six. Brayden O’Connor scored five, while LeShawn Hines and Lane Morgan both added four and Tristan Nelson and Colton Weiss both tallied three.
Rochester (0-12, 0-2 1A Evergreen) will be at home again on Monday against Centralia.
