The Riverside Fire Authority had a busy afternoon Wednesday, July 16, as a pair of structure fires were reported within a half hour of each other.
Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Centralia Alpha Road at 11:07 a.m. A second structure fire was reported in the 1800 block of Seminary Hill Road at 11:39 a.m.
Upon arrival to the Centralia Alpha Road blaze, units found smoke coming from a detached 10-by-12-foot shop structure.
“The fire was extinguished and overhaul completed,” the fire authority stated in a news release. “Contents of the shop received smoke, water and fire damage. The interior walls also sustained damage. The exterior structure had limited damage. Cause is under investigation. No injuries reported. Mutual aid assistance provided by Chehalis Fire and Lewis County Fire District 6.”
Upon arrival to the 1800 block of Seminary Hill Road a short time later, units found the nearly 3000-square-foot single-family residence with heavy active fire involvement at the front entrance of the home.
“Personnel performed extinguishment, primary and secondary searches along with overhaul,” the fire authority stated in the release. “The home and contents received considerable fire, smoke and water damage to include structural damage to the roof and exterior. The cause of the fire is under investigation. RFA units were assisted by West Thurston Regional Fire Authority, Chehalis Fire Department and Lewis County Fire District 6 and.”
No bystanders were injured, though one firefighter sustained injuries while battling the blaze, according to the release.
