The Riverside Fire Authority announced Friday that two of its members recently received promotions.

Jesse Berry, a lieutenant since 2016, was recently promoted to captain; and Spencer Schwiesow was recently promoted to lieutenant after four years with the Riverside Fire Authority.

Berry graduated paramedic school in 2004 from the College of Southern Nevada and began his fire career in 2006 with the Centralia Fire Department. He is the coordinator for the Riverside Fire Authority Technical Rescue Team and is involved in ALS paramedic training.

Berry has been married for 25 years and has a 20-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son.  He and his family enjoy traveling and being outdoors, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

Schwiesow graduated with a fire science degree from Spokane Community College before working for Washington state Department of Natural Resources and then with Kittitas County Fire District 7 in 2018. He has worked for Riverside Fire Authority since 2021. He is also the Riverside Fire Authority Wildland Fire program coordinator.

Schwiesow and his wife have been married for five years and have a 6-month-old daughter.  Their family enjoys the outdoors and working on their farmhouse, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

“Both Captain Berry and Lt. Schwiesow are assigned to A-shift and engage with this community both on and off duty.  Both are respected for their work ethic, dedication and commitment to providing quality services within the Riverside Fire Authority response area and through mutual aid. We are happy and thankful for their leadership and teamwork,” the Riverside Fire Authority said in a news release.
