Fueled by the pitching plus hitting from Peyton Holter and Brenna Carver, the Toledo High School softball team secured a 12-3 win over Warden and an 11-3 verdict against Kittitas, both on Saturday in Kittitas.
In what has turned into a lethal 1-2 combo in the circle, Carver shined versus the Cougars with a four-inning outing in the circle with six strikeouts and at the dish, went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a stolen base. Toledo (8-1) scored four in the top of the first, then Warden responded with three in the bottom half.
The Riverhawks, sparked by 21 hits as a team, piled on with two runs each in the third and fourth innings, one in the fifth and three in the sixth. Taysia Miller, Zaya Norberg, Xtyn Norberg joined Carver with at least three hits. Miller added two RBIs.
Holter, who pitched three innings in the first game to get the save, started versus the Coyotes and the returning C2BL MVP shined with six innings and nine strikeouts. And she added four hits, two RBIs and two runs scored at the plate.
The Riverhawks blew the game open with a nine-run fifth, as the first nine batters reached base. They roped four straight hits to start the frame and took advantage of two walks and an error. Holter, X. Norberg, Carver, Miller all registered RBI hits in the frame.
Audrey Cooper recorded two hits and two RBIs and Z. Norberg notched a triple. Toledo will return from spring break with an April 13 meeting versus Rainier.
