Riverhawks get revenge over Winlock in sweep

The Toledo volleyball team got the revenge it so desired Thursday, getting Winlock back for a five-set non-league defeat with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-14 sweep the second Battle of the Cowlitz matchup of the fall — and the one that counts toward the Central 2B League standings.

“That was much better,” Toledo coach Kelli Larson said.

Jordynne Hensley got things going for the Riverhawks (5-6, 2-2 C2BL) on offense, and finished with 13 kills to lead the offense.

“She came out with a variety of shots,” Larson said. “The last time we played them, her go-to shot was more of a deep, hard-hit drive, but (tonight) she was mixing it up with more half-speed to different locations to keep their defense guessing.”

Ellie Fallon posted 10 kills, added three aces and led the defense with 14 digs. Stefa Arceo-Hansen had 12 digs, while Lyndzie Filla had 11.

On defense at the net, Irys DeAguero and Eden Jones both had three blocks that helped set the tone, while Jones also had two kills at the right pin.

“She only had two kills, but they were at crucial times,” Larson said.

No stats were reported for the Cardinals (6-6, 1-4 C2BL).

Winlock will host Chief Leschi in a non-league contest Monday. Toledo will get back in action Tuesday at Kalama.
