The Varsity Collection, a newly reimagined hospitality and residential community in Centralia, will formally celebrate its grand opening and official ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon on Wednesday, April 8.
The event will be held at Varsity South, located at 702 Harrison Ave., Centralia, in the former OYO Hotel. The former King Oscar and OYO hotels in Centralia have both been transformed into Varsity North and Varsity South, respectively.
According to previous reporting by The Chronicle last August, the Centralia City Council approved the two developments with Sage Investments LLC for the Kirkland-based developer to turn the two former hotels into split-usage buildings. The top floor of each building will become residential studio apartments while the bottom floor will be maintained for commercial use, according to reporting at the time.
Sage Investments has previously converted the former Motel 6 on the west side of Interstate 5 in Centralia into housing.
The April 8 event is open to the public, and the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to attend. Snacks and refreshments will be provided following the ceremony.
The Varsity Collection includes Varsity North, Varsity South and Varsity West, the three fully renovated properties offering a blend of approximately 50% residential living and 50% hotel accommodations, located less than one mile from the Northwest Sports Hub.
The properties have undergone a complete renovation led by Sage Investments, transforming previously underutilized spaces into modern environments designed to serve both short-term guests and long-term residents.
The reimagined communities provide affordable residential options alongside elevated hospitality offerings, supporting the growing needs of the Centralia-Chehalis area, according to a news release from the Chamber of Commerce.
“The Varsity Collection is a great example of what we do at Sage, taking underperforming properties and transforming them into something the community needs,” said Ryan Sudeck, CEO of Sage Investment Group. “We’re proud of what these projects add to the community, and we’re grateful to the local partners who helped make it happen.”
Following the ribbon-cutting, guests will have the opportunity to tour the renovated spaces, meet the team behind the project, and experience firsthand the transformation of the Varsity Collection.
