Rep. Orcutt: Sunny State Revenue Forecast Should Lead to Tax Relief

State Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama, on Friday provided a statement following the release of a positive November state revenue forecast, saying that it’s “time for meaningful tax relief.”

“I continue to believe that property tax relief would help individuals, families and employers across our state. We have offered ideas on how to do this, including bills that have already been introduced, and I welcome a discussion on these options,” he said in a statement.

“It is clear the Legislature can provide people with real financial relief this legislative session without jeopardizing important state programs and services or tapping the rainy-day fund. We just need for the majority to pass these tax relief bills,” he continued.

Washington residents, he said, are currently feeling the pain of inflation, higher gas prices and other economic pressures. With tax collection still strong, Orcutt said the state should focus on providing relief.
