The offense wasn’t clicking for the Rainier baseball team, which was shut out in a 6-0 loss against Toutle Lake on Thursday.

The Ducks got on the board in the first, but the score remained 1-0 until the fourth. In that time, the Mountaineers stranded three runners on base, and Toutle Lake extended its lead with a pair in both the fourth and the fifth.

Rainier ended the day with five hits and only posted multiple hits in the seventh inning.

Dayton Gardner collected two hits in three at-bats, and he also struck out four in three innings. Yazama Gurnsey pitched the other three innings.

Rainier (1-5, 1-5 C2BL) will hit the road again on Friday, when it will head to Napavine.
