The Rainier volleyball team got back in the win column on Thursday, as the Mountaineers swept Wahkiakum in a home C2BL matchup 25-5, 25-12, 25-18.

The Mountaineers (6-3, 1-1 C2BL) came out of the gate hot, and while the Mules played better as the match went on, Rainier “pushed through to finish it in three,” according to Rainier coach Carrie Ooms.

Allyson Ooms led the team offensively with 10 kills, though Acacia Murphy and Anika Plowman weren’t far behind with eight kills each.

Lily Johnson and Olivia Earsley each had 14 digs, and Johnson also added three aces. Brooklynn Swenson led the team in aces, however, delivering four while also dishing out 20 assists.

After winning their first three games of the season, the Mountaineers have alternated wins and losses over their last six.

They’ll look to get a second straight win on Tuesday in Winlock when they take on the Cardinals.
