The Rainier girls basketball team got back on track on Thursday night, following up their first loss of the season with a 47-42 win over Toutle Lake.

Both defenses found success in the first half, as the Mountaineers (14-1, 7-1 C2BL) led just 19-13, but both offenses found a bit of a rhythm in the second half, specifically in the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the two teams combined for more points (36) than they did in the first half (32).

Bryn Beckman led the Mountaineers with 15 points, and Angelica Askey added 12 while also tallying four steals. Janess Blackburn hauled in six rebounds and grabbed two steals of her own, while Haleigh Hanson had three assists.

With Adna’s win over Napavine on Thursday, the Mountaineers are now one of three teams in the C2BL with one league loss, along with the Pirates and Tigers.

Up next for the Mountaineers is a rematch against the Pirates, who they defeated in Adna on Dec. 8, on Tuesday.
