Following the arrest of the Rainier Jr/Sr High School Principal on Tuesday, the Oregon school district announced another person associated with the district was arrested the same day. Both are suspected of child sex crimes.

The district announced Thursday the arrest of David Alexander Rubio, 24, of Salem, who coached a wrestling clinic at the school district earlier this summer. The district did not employ Rubio.

Jeremy Peter Williams, 49, of Longview, was the district's high school principal. He was arrested for suspicion of having child porn, and his next Cowlitz County Superior Court date is set for Wednesday.

Law enforcement does not suspect either case to involve Rainier district students.

The district's Thursday evening announcement says leaders learned of Rubio's arrest that morning, and that students and families at the schools' wrestling clinic, hosted by Wrestling USA, had been contacted.

The city of Scapoose also put out Thursday a statement about Rubio, saying his Aug. 28 Columbia County Grand Jury indictment came after people told Scapoose Police that Rubio tried to solicit sexually explicit photos of minor athletes after meeting Rubio at a wrestling clinic. The location of the clinic was not listed in the notice.

Rubio was a recent star wrestler at the private Christian college Corban University in Salem. The school's website says in the 2024-2025 season, Rubio was the program’s first NAIA individual national champion.

Salem Police booked Rubio Tuesday in Marion County Jail, the Scappoose press release states.

He was in Columbia County Jail as of Thursday evening for suspicion of using a child in display of sexually explicit content, luring a minor, and second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, jail records show.

Rainier School District Superintendent Chad Holloway said in his announcement that crisis response professionals were at the school Thursday, and will come again next week to help students and staff. He reiterated the district's goal of safety.

"Annually, every district employee is required to participate in mandatory reporter training," he writes, "which means they must report any concerning incidents immediately to law enforcement or state agencies."
