Public Comments Sought on How to Boost Tourism Along Thurston County’s Bountiful Byway

Posted

Have ideas about how to bring more visitors to rural Thurston County? Are there attractions you wish Thurston County offered in its agricultural areas? Now’s the time to speak up.

Experience Olympia & Beyond has released a draft of a Corridor Management Plan (CMP) for the Thurston Bountiful Byway and is now accepting public comment on the document. The Thurston Bountiful Byway is a 60-mile loop tour covering rural Thurston County, promoting the agricultural aspects of the region, including farms, farmers markets and businesses sourcing from local farms.

Experience Olympia & Beyond held six public workshops and created an online tool to accept public input for the CMP in August, with community members along the byway offering suggestions for destinations, experiences and desired improvements along the route.

The final CMP document, scheduled for release Dec. 1, will provide the framework for a strategic plan to improve visitor experiences and expand tourism opportunities for rural Thurston County.

The draft CMP is available to view on the Thurston Bountiful Byway webpage. Comments or suggestions for edits can be emailed to jeff@experienceolympia.com by Nov. 16.
