Fire District 5 commissioner

In a race that might require some legal wrangling, Tom Crowson was the runaway favorite for commissioner of Lewis County Fire District 5 in Napavine.

Crowson died on July 27.

However, he had 658 votes, or 61.9%, in the initial primary results, well ahead of second-place Rick LeBoeuf (244 votes, 22.95%) and Sam Patrick (148 votes, 13.92%).

If Crowson’s lead is maintained, his name will advance to the general election with the second-place finisher, according to Lewis County Chief Deputy Auditor Tom Stanton.

At this point, Crowson’s name could only be removed from the general election ballot under the order of a Lewis County Superior Court Judge.

As of Tuesday night’s primary election results, school levies in Mossyrock and White Pass were both passing, as was a bond to build a new fire station for Fire District 4 in Morton.
