Presley tops the field in the Miller 200

ROCHESTER — The Miller 200 brought 27 of the best drivers in the Northwest to South Sound Speedway on Saturday, and Olympia driver Bob Presley survived an early spinout to claim the checkered flag.

Amber Cope was the fastest qualifier with a 13.99 second lap, averaging 96.5 miles per hour. Troy Conrad and Kevin Carver won the trophy dashes.

Presley was the winner of the main event with Tim Gosch in second and Cope in third. Also finishing on the lead lap were Eric Tibbitts, Jim Wilcox and Wes Rhodes.

Points leader Josh Zahn qualified fastest for the Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks. Jim Moen won the trophy dash. Dave Crawford won the C heat race with Mark Rorvik in second and Todd Wilson in third.

The B heat went to Dan Walker with Matt Wolden and Charlie Manier close behind. Jim Moen won the A heat with Darold Walker and Josh Zahn in tow.



Brandon Tompkins was the winner of the 30-lap main event. Close behind were Josh Zahn, Jim Moen and Eric Lee.

Dan Woodward and J.J. Hamilton came into the night tied for first place in the Top Notch Trailers Street Stock point standings. Woodward captured the fastest qualifying time. Bobby Micielli won the trophy dash. Hamilton won the heat race with Ron Ehli and Bill Posh Jr. behind.

The first attempt to start the main event fell short as Bobby Micielli got into the wall on the front stretch. Hamilton won for the second week in a row with Steve Ford in second and Ehli in third.

This week at South Sound Speedway will be the WESCO Sprints, Sportsman, Yelm National Auto Parts Bumblebees and the Mini-Cup Nationals. Racing on Saturday will start at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. Check out www.southsoundspeedway.com for more racing information.
