Bail is set at $25,000 for a woman accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from outlet stores in Centralia.
Stephanny Shabri Johnson, 36, of Portland, Oregon, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, after officers with the Centralia Police Department identified her as a suspect in at least two thefts that occurred at the Centralia Outlets earlier that day, according to jail records and court documents.
Officers identified Johnson as a suspect based on a description from an employee at Bath and Body Works, where Johnson is accused of stealing $612.30 worth of merchandise, according to court documents.
An officer located Johnson inside the Nike outlet store, where she was carrying a mesh bag of merchandise with a total value of $412.
When asked about the items from Bath and Body Works, Johnson allegedly said “I guess I stole it” before asking for an attorney, according to court documents.
She allegedly gave officers consent to search her vehicle, inside of which they found six items in retail packaging with tags attached, 18 households goods in retail packaging with tags attached, 49 items from Old Navy with retail tags and security tags attached in a mesh bag meant for in-store use, 13 items from Nike with retail packaging and security tags in a mesh bag meant for in-store use, 10 clothing items for dogs and dog toys with retail packaging and tags attached, a purse with a security lock attached, two pairs of shoes with tags, a pair of pants with tags, and other potentially stolen items.
Johnson’s criminal history includes felony convictions for possession of stolen property, money laundering, robbery and residential burglary, with the most-recent conviction dated 2018. She also has a pending retail theft case out of Clark County, according to court documents.
“With all that, she’s a risk not to appear and a risk to interfere with the administration of justice,” Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead said of Johnson during her preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday, March 3.
Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, March 13.
