A 51-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of assaulting two women and firing a gun at a group of people in Southeast Portland earlier this month, police said.
Anthony Richardson is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, unlawful use of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm, according to the jail roster.
Richardson is a suspect in the March 17 “unprovoked attacks” on the women near an apartment building in the 12300 block of Southeast Ash Street and in the subsequent shooting, according to the Portland Police Bureau. Police said Richardson and a “group of individuals” had a confrontation, and Richardson went to his apartment, retrieved a gun and then fired multiple rounds at the group on Ash Street.
No one was injured in the shooting, police said.
Detectives investigating the incidents identified Richardson as a suspect and concluded that he “intentionally targeted multiple individuals and also made threats against police,” according to the Police Bureau.
On Friday, officers served a search warrant at Richardson’s apartment, recovered the weapon they believe was used in the shooting and took Richardson into custody.
