The Port of Chehalis announced Wednesday that Amazon has requested an assignment of sale through an existing purchase and sale agreement in the amount of $9,320,080.18 between the Port of Chehalis and developer CRG.

The proposed facility, which would be built at 0 Rush Road, parcel No. 017800014003, would be expected to create between 500 and 1,000 jobs, not including commercial driver positions, according to a news release from the port.

According to the Lewis County Parcels website, the parcel makes up 34.070 acres and has an assessed value of over $3.7 million. Traffic is not expected to be significantly impacted, according to the port news release, and impacts through the port industrial park will be supported by the existing dedicated overpass.

This development represents a significant economic investment in Lewis County and aligns with the port’s mission to grow and diversify the local economy while fostering high-quality job creation, according to the news release.

Based on 2025 figures and rates, the potential annual county tax impact from such an investment is estimated at upward of $2.4 million, which would support local government services that typically include infrastructure improvements and community programs.

According to Amazon, the company offers a competitive starting wage, health benefits from day one of employment, and access to the Amazon Career Choice program after 90 days.

“Amazon’s investment in our community represents a transformative opportunity for Lewis County residents, providing access to well-paying jobs with comprehensive benefits and career advancement opportunities,” Mark Anders, port commissioner, said in a news release. “We are proud to facilitate this partnership and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our region.”

The Port of Chehalis did not specifically clarify which type of facility Amazon will construct. However, it scheduled a special meeting Friday morning with a resolution to “approve the assignment of sale from CRG to Amazon and grant authority to the port CEO to sign all paperwork related to the closing of the purchase and sale agreement.”
