A possible sale of 17 different parcels of land owned by the Port of Centralia is in the works after port commissioners unanimously gave their approval for the findings and facts and for Port of Centralia Executive Director Kyle Heaton to begin negotiations for the purchase and sale agreements.
Discussion about the parcels was held during the Port of Centralia commissioners’ regular meeting on Wednesday, April 2.
“The proposed use of the property is consistent with the port’s comprehensive scheme of harbor improvements,” Heaton said.
The 17 parcels — which total 78.37 acres of land — are all located in between the Chehalis River and Sandra Avenue, with some parcels located along Sandra Avenue and Ives Road, some along Gallagher Road and the remaining along Galvin Road.
In a map provided by the Port of Centralia, a total of 21 parcels were highlighted, but according to Heaton, the extra parcels included were by the river bank and were included for “mitigation.”
“However, in transparency, we brought them forth in this hearing because they would have use of them,” Heaton said. “That would be contained in an agreement that would be coming before you for further consideration.”
The identity of the potential buyer, or buyers, was not discussed during Wednesday’s meeting.
