Beacon Building Products — the largest publicly traded roofing material and complementary building products distributor in the U.S. and Canada — has entered into a new, long-term lease with the Port of Centralia, according to a port news release.

Beacon will occupy 2000 Northpark Drive in Centralia, and the lease’s length is 10 years.

“The port would like to thank Beacon Building Products for the decision to invest here in Centralia,” Port of Centralia Commissioner Kyle Markstrom said in the release. “We are confident that Beacon will prove to be a great employer and a valuable asset in our community.”

“Beacon will be making a significant commitment that will enhance the port’s property on Northpark Drive,” Port of Centralia Executive Director Kyle Heaton added.

Heaton thanked Lee & Associates, along with Jones, Lang and Lasalle, for representing “all parties” in the lease transaction.

Headquartered in Herdon, Virginia, Beacon Building Products was listed as No. 449 on the 2023 Fortune 500 list. For more information, visit https://www.becn.com/

Additionally, the port closed its purchase and sale agreement with WinCo Foods for Centralia Station last week, as previously reported by The Chronicle.

“Not only will Centralians be able to shop at one of the Northwest premier grocers, there will be over 100 new family-wage job opportunities as well,” said Markstrom in a port news release thanking WinCo.

“We also appreciate the patience of our constituents while infrastructure design and construction that led to WinCo’s site selection took place,” Heaton added.

Centralia Station is a Port of Centralia project developing a shopping center complex featuring WinCo — a 24 hours a day warehouse-style supermarket chain that sells bulk food items — as the anchor tenant.

The project is being carried out in three phases, with the first two revolving around the construction of the South Yew Street extension and then Art Lehmann Drive, connecting South Yew Street to the Interstate 5 Mellen Street overpass.

Now that the first two phases are complete and the purchase and sale agreement finalized, WinCo will carry out the final phase — construction of the supermarket and shopping complex — once the permitting with the City of Centralia is complete.

A construction start date has yet to be announced.
