Chehalis residents, along with those living in or near Port of Chehalis properties, are invited to an open house focusing on the City of Chehalis and Port of Chehalis joint Flood Strategy Investment Plan.

The open house will be held from 2 to 6 p.m.  on Thursday, March 6, at the V.R. Lee Community Building, located at 221 SW 13th St. in Recreation Park. It is free to attend.

Attendees will learn about flood mitigation plans being implemented to tackle flooding stemming from the Dillenbaugh, Dilly Twig and Berwick creeks, along with what they can do to help mitigate flood risk on their own.

The port’s and city’s joint Flood Strategy Investment Plan will also be detailed. It will identify high flood risk areas.

“This project is brought to you by the City of Chehalis, Port of Chehalis and Chehalis River Basin Flood Authority, and as part of the larger Chehalis Basin Strategy,” the city sated in a news release. “Together, we aim to reduce the risk of future flooding that has previously impacted our communities.”
