Pirates top Spartans for third straight win

Make it three wins in a row for the Adna Pirates, who took care of business in a 49-13 victory over Forks on Friday night.

The Pirates scored the first 42 points of the game, and the Adna defense allowed just seven points (the other six came on a Forks defensive touchdown).

Offensively, Adna tallied over 300 yards on the ground and added nearly 100 more through the air. Naillon Ramirez led the ground attack with 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns, Landen Cline added 70 and another score, and Beau Miller tallied 62 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Trevin Salme and Grayson Humphrey connected for two touchdowns through the air, and they also connected on another chunk play. Humphrey finished with 81 receiving yards on just three catches.

Defensively, Steven O’Dell tallied seven tackles, while Cash Smith had six and a sack, and Trent Kephart had four and a half tackles and a sack.

“It was a great team win,” Adna coach Aaron Cochran said. “The offensive line and backs did a good job consistently moving the ball on the ground, and the defense was very aggressive.”

Cochran says that since Week 1, the focus for the Pirates has been consistency in all phases. While it’s been better over the last three weeks, Cochran still thinks his team has another gear to reach.

“Mistakes happen, but they can’t be from a lack of focus,” Cochran said. “Our kids are working toward that and are getting better every week.”

The Pirates (4-2, 3-0 C2BL West) will hit the road for a non-conference game next Saturday, Oct. 18, when they will face Coupeville.
