Pirates top Loggers for another league win

Make it an even dozen for the Adna Pirates, who won their 12th league game in a row with a 68-49 victory in Onalaska on Friday.

The Pirates led by four after one and scored 21 points in the second to push the lead to 14.

“We let the game get out of hand,” Onalaska coach Fred Sturza said. “We got into the locker room and were able to get back to playing hard, but Adna is too dang good and too well coached to spot them that big of a lead and hope to come back.”

Grayson Humphrey had one of his best performances of the season, as he hit five three-pointers and went on to finish with a game-high 26 points.

Trevin Salme added 20 points, James Greenwood finished with seven, and both Landen Cline and Jackson Knittle scored four. Cline also added nine assists and nine rebounds.

Noland Brady led Onalaska with 18 points in a performance Sturza commended.

“Noland played like a warrior tonight,” Sturza said. “The team rallied around him, which gives us some hope as we inch towards districts.”

Ethan Thayer added 12 points, and Maddox McKinley tagged on 11.

Onalaska (8-9, 7-7 C2BL) will be back at home on Saturday against Raymond-South Bend, while Adna (15-2, 12-0 C2BL) will host Napavine on Wednesday.
