Pirates Sweep Twin Bill in Cathlamet

Bouncing back after a tough series against Toutle Lake last week, the Adna baseball team got runs and got them fast in a doubleheader sweep against Wahkiakum in Cathlamet Monday afternoon, 9-3 and 10-0.

In the first game, it took the Pirate offense a bit to settle in, but Tristan Percival kept them in it with a great display on the mound, striking out the first nine batters he faced and 13 of the first 15 outs of the game.

Once Adna got settled once through the lineup, the hits came in flurries.

Percival went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, and Asher Guerrero added a 3 for 4 day with three more RBIs in the first, 9-3, win.

“It took us an inning to settle down going through the lineup,” Pirates coach Thad Nelson said. “But we made the adjustment quickly after that.”

Percival finished 5 1/3 innings of work with 14 strikeouts and just three hits given up, with one walk. Cameron Nakano finished the game over the final inning and two thirds, striking out four.

In the second, five inning 10-0 win, Danner Hoinowski pitched a complete game shutout, with five strikeouts. He also went 2 for 3 at the dish with two RBIs. Luke Mohney added a 2 for 3 line with three RBIs at the top of the order.

The Pirates are finished with league play, and finish the Central 2B season with a 12-4 record. They’ll play Mossyrock on Wednesday in a non-league contest on the road at 4 p.m.
