Pirates Shut Down Bulldogs in Second Straight Road Win

Making its second straight taxing drive, after a long trip to Cathlamet last week, the Adna football team came up with its second straight win against Stevenson, beating the Bulldogs 33-0 Friday night.

The Pirates once again put together a dominant defensive showing, giving them strong field position which helped them find ways to score.

“Our defense played well again,” Pirates coach Jason Dunnagan said. “Gave us a short field all night. We’re still searching for an identity offensively but I believe in my guys. We’ve got the heart of our schedule coming and we’ll be ready to battle either way.”

Lane Johnson was 6 for 11 for 59 yards with a touchdown and an interception, Jaxon Dunnagan added 15 carries for 74 yards and two scores, and Johnson carved himself two touchdowns on the ground as well. Seth Meister caught Johnson’s lone touchdown pass, and Asher Guerrero caught two balls for 46 yards.

The Pirates indeed have some strong tests ahead of them, including this next Friday when they finally return home to play Toledo, which is unbeaten in league play and ranked seventh in the state.
