Pirates roll to two big wins over Cardinals

It was all Adna all day in Winlock on Monday, as the Pirates cruised to a pair of three-inning wins, topping the Cardinals 20-1 and 25-0.

The Pirates (3-3, 1-0 C2BL) were clicking on all cylinders from the first pitch of the first game, as they scored 16 runs in the opening frame.

Avery La Fontaine went 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and five runs batted in, while Gaby Guard went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Margarite Humphrey went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

They posted two more big innings in the second game, following a three-run first with 14 in the second and eight in the third to get to 25.

Ava Simms struck out all nine batters she faced in the circle, and she also hit a home run, a double, and drove in six runs in the nightcap.

Kaydence Groves went 4 for 4 and brought home three, while Kendall Humphrey hit two doubles and drove in four. Khloe Hunt scored three runs and tallied three hits while also driving in another.

Cali Geehan drove in Winlock’s (2-3, 0-1 C2BL) lone run in the first game, delivering an RBI double.

Adna will host Wahkiakum on Thursday, while Winlock will head to Forks on Tuesday.
