Pirates overwhelm Cardinals early en route to blowout win

The Adna boys basketball team came away with its biggest win of the season on Thursday, as the Pirates defeated Winlock 74-18.

The Pirates defense dominated, allowing five or fewer points in three quarter, including just five combined in the second and third.

The offense took advantage, building a massive lead in the first half and building on it in the second, erasing any chance of a comeback early.

Jens Neilson led the way for the Pirates (7-1, 3-1 C2BL) with 19 points, while Lane Johnson scored 13 and Trevin Salme added 11.

Landen Cline led Winlock (1-5, 0-4 C2BL) with eight points, and no other Cardinal scored more than two.

Both the Pirates and the Cardinals are off until after Christmas. The Pirates will take on Orcas Island at Mount Vernon Christian on Dec. 28, and the Cardinals will head to Concrete on Dec. 30.
