The Adna girls basketball team went south a county and two rungs up the classification ladder on Monday and came away with a decisive 79-43 win over 2A Mark Morris in Longview.

The Pirates held the Monarchs under 10 points in each of the first two quarters to build a 13-point lead by halftime, then exploded for 26 themselves in the third to put things well and truly away.

Karsyn Freeman dropped 31 points to lead all scorers and also brought down eight rebounds, and Danika Hallom added 14.

“Those two are playing well right now, so that’s encouraging going forward,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said.

Kendall Humphrey scored 10 points — all in the second half — and had six boards

“That’s what we need out of her every night,” Bannish said.

Adna gets back to C2BL action against Morton-White Pass at home on Tuesday, then goes north for a high-stakes clash with Rainier on Friday.
