Pirates Fall in Regular Season Finale to Eagles

In its final game of the regular season, and a rescheduled contest from earlier this season, the Adna baseball team fell to Elma on the road, 5-1.

The Pirates got their last shot to see competitive pitching, and throw out some of their own aces, but couldn’t string together enough hits to pick up the non-league victory before districts start this weekend.

Tristan Percival got the nod on the mound and pitched three innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Cameron Nakano pitched the next two innings, allowing three runs with one earned on three hits and a walk, and Beau Miller pitched the final inning, retiring the side in order.

The Pirates managed to load the bases in the first inning, with two base hits, but only put one run across. In the following six innings, the Pirates managed just one more hit as Elma’s starter settled in.

Danner Hoinowski, Percival, and Asher Guerrero picked up Adna’s three hits. Luke Mohney went 0 for 1, but scored a run and was hit twice to get on base.

The Pirates will await their postseason fate this weekend as regular season games conclude for the 2B District 4 tournament, starting Saturday.
