YAKIMA — The Adna volleyball team rebounded from its quarterfinal loss last night with a 18-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 over Liberty early Thursday morning.
The win secures a second straight top-six finish for the Pirates, as they’ll play for fifth place against Okanogan at noon.
“Having not lost a game, and to lose a game at state … you wonder how they’re gonna do,” Adna coach Wendie Dotson said. “We had a team talk, and we wanted to go out strong. They came back and they did it.
It was a slow start for the Pirates on Thursday morning, as they trailed almost the entire first set.
They quickly found their footing, however, taking the next three sets to extend their season.
Karsyn Freeman led the team with 23 kills while also adding nine digs, two blocks and an ace. Kendall Humphrey was perfect form the service line, and she tallied 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks, an assist and an ace.
Danika Hallom logged 17 kills, eight digs and two aces, while Charissa Schierman had 14 assists, 12 digs, three kills and a block. Jaylee Humphrey recorded 11 digs.
