Pirates Blow Out Mules in League Opener

The Adna softball team’s long-awaited Central 2B League debut ended up being about as one-sided as most of the talking heads expected it to be, as the Pirates needed just three innings to blow out Wahkiakum, 22-2.

Thursday, Cathlamet wasn’t a particularly tough place to play, at least for Adna’s batting order, which jumped out for four runs in the first inning, five in the second, and 13 in the third, hitting 20 on an Ava Simms grand slam before the Mules could record their 12th out.

Simms added a double to her final stat line, going 2 for 3 at the plate with five RBIs; she also earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts in two hitless innings.

Karlee VonMoos also went yard for the Pirates, who have already hit seven bombs in their first five games.

Danika Hallom added a 2-for-4 line at the top of the order, hitting a double, drawing a walk, driving two runs in, and scoring two more. Natalie Loose, Margarite Humphrey, Alyssa Carroll, and Gaby Guard all logged two RBIs themselves.

Adna is set to host Winlock for two games on Saturday.
