Pirates blow out Loggers

The Adna girls basketball team did a whole lot right on both sides of the ball Friday, dominating Onalaska 59-14.

“I just thought we did a great job defensively,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said. “We’re gonna score the ball, but we’ve got to hone in defensively and I feel like they’re starting to figure it out.”

Friday, the Pirates (7-1, 4-1 C2BL) clamped down, holding the Loggers to three points in the first quarter and four in the entire second half.

Karsyn Freeman scored 25 points to lead the Pirates.

“She’s starting to learn multiple positions,” Bannish said. “It's gonna be a really good thing in a month. She’s just learning every day … the more she can grasp, it’s just gonna open up everybody else.”

Bailey Chapman added 10 points for Adna, and Gaby Guard scored nine. Emalie Jacoby had five to lead the Loggers (4-6, 1-3 C2BL).

Adna will play three games next week at the Mount Vernon Holiday Classic, starting Thursday against Mossyrock. Onalaska will stay at home, facing Forks next Wednesday.
