A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train late Wednesday south of Tukwila, stalling rail service.
The northbound train, headed from Portland to Seattle, struck the person after 9 p.m., Amtrak spokesperson Jason Abrams said in an email.
Abrams noted the person was not permitted to be on the tracks.
There have been no reported injuries to our passengers or crew on board," Abrams said. "Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident.
The train remained stopped as of 11 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority could not provide details on the incident.
