The No. 14 Pe Ell-Willapa Valley Titans traveled to Pasco on Saturday for their Round of 16 matchup against No. 3 Tri-Cities Prep, and the Titans were defeated 56-0.
TCP scored 14 points in the first and added another three touchdowns in the second to build a 35-0 halftime lead. The Jaguars added on another touchdown in the third and two more in the fourth.
“They were just better at every phase of the game then we were,” PWV coach John Peterson said. “That’s a hard one to take, because our guys have played so well for so long, but it is what it is.”
The PWV offense struggled to get anything going. Blane King stepped in at quarterback after an early injury to Brody Ritzman, and the Jaguars were able to stifle the Titans at will. PWV finished with just 62 total yards, while TCP tallied over 400.
The Titans finish their season 7-4 and will graduate 11 seniors.
“I’d like to thank them,” Peterson said. “They were great kids for me. To have them play that hard for us, I’m really, really proud of those kids. They have nothing to hang their heads about.”
