A Packwood woman was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital after being struck by a 2024 Honda CR-V on U.S. Highway 12 while riding her bicycle Thursday.
The collision occurred about 2:05 p.m. as the cyclist, Dante S. Pogue, 50, was traveling westbound on the shoulder of the highway just east of Skate Creek Road South in Packwood, according to a memo from the Washington State Patrol.
The CR-V, driven by Teddy L. Castle, 73, of Ferndale, was also traveling westbound along the highway.
According to the state patrol, Pogue swerved into the westbound lane in front of the CR-V, which then struck the cyclist. The cause of the accident was listed as “bicyclist in roadway.”
Pogue, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered undisclosed injuries.
Castle was wearing a seat belt. He was not injured.
