A Dallas, Oregon, man was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison this week for attacking a woman while delivering food with her for DoorDash.

Daniel Ray Myers, 63, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and attempt to commit a Class A felony, according to court documents.

In February, police found the victim outside a Walgreens in Keizer, “barefoot and bleeding from several stab wounds,” according to a probable cause affidavit in the case. She told the officers that Myers had driven her to a secluded spot in West Salem, held a knife to her throat and told her he was going to “have sex” with her and then kill her, the affidavit states.

As the two struggled in the front seat of the car, Myers stabbed the woman in the shoulder, the abdomen and the chin, and also punched her several times, police alleged in court documents.

The woman, who said she had known Myers for several months and was delivering food with him, said Myers told her, “How many people do you think I’ve killed? Not just a few. I’ve killed several people.”

The victim said she eventually was able to calm Myers down, told him she wouldn’t tell anyone what happened and convinced him to take her to the Walgreens to treat her wounds. She went inside the store on her own and called police.

Myers fled to California, where he was arrested, the Polk County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

In 2012, Myers was convicted of supplying contraband in Marion County, according to court documents. The Polk County District Attorney’s Office said he also has previous convictions for murder and unlawful possession of weapons.
