Online survey seeks comments on Washington state rail plan

Posted

Washington State Department of Transportation officials are seeking online comments on proposed updates to the state's rail plan.

From April 15 through June 24, WSDOT is asking for input on the plan, which it describes as a long-term vision for how passenger and freight rail can best serve Washington. Goals of the plan include:

—Ease congestion by providing more reliable rail service options, reducing dependency on busy highways.

—Strengthen Washington's economy by ensuring businesses can move goods efficiently.

—Reduce emissions and support Washington's climate goals by shifting more trips from road to rail.

—Improve safety through upgraded rail crossings and infrastructure investments.
