Onalaska tops RSB in second straight Saturday matchup

Posted

Onalaska and Raymond-South Bend met for the second Saturday in a row, and the Loggers came away with another victory by defeating the Ravens 79-67.

The Onalaska offense was consistent throughout, as it scored at least 16 points in all four quarters, and four Loggers hit double-figures.

“We wanted to get back to doing what we do best and push the ball,” Onalaska coach Fred Sturza said. “Blaze Underhill did a great job getting the ball pushed early and the other guys finished in transition.”

Case McGraw led the effort with 20 points, while Underhill and Cooper Lawrence both scored 17. Justin Jacoby added 11, and Nick Rushton scored eight. Ethan Thayer and Noland Brady combined for six.

Defensively, the Loggers allowed more total points, but they had more success against RSB’s Chris Quintana.

Quintana scored 32 at Onalaska in their first matchup on Jan. 4, and Sturza made sure the Loggers keyed in on him defensively. They had more success against him in the second meeting, allowing just 12 points.

“We wanted to limit his touches and make his life difficult when he had the ball,” Struza said. “Case McGraw did a great job defensively on him and made him take tough shots.”

Onalaska (5-7, 4-5 C2BL) will return to league play on Tuesday at Napavine.
