The Onalaska boys basketball team came out swinging and never looked back against Chief Leschi in Montesano on Saturday, as the Loggers topped the Warriors 71-35 in the opening round of the 2B District 4 Tournament.

It was all Onalaska from the jump, as the Loggers opened up a 19-3 lead after one and led 37-12 at the break.

“The guys were excited to be back at district and came out playing aggressive defense,” Onalaska coach Fred Sturza said. “That got us up early.”

Blaze Underhill led the offensive effort with 16 points, and Sturza commended him for pushing the ball up the court and getting everyone involved consistently.

Case McGraw was right behind him with 15 points, while Ethan Thayer scored nine and Maddox McKinley added eight.

“It was great to see the guys play a complete game,” Sturza said. “I’m really proud of how hard they worked this week.”

Onalaska (10-12) will face Napavine in a district quarterfinal on Wednesday at Castle Rock.
