Onalaska residents reminded to complete community survey for the town’s subarea plan; Meeting scheduled for August

In June, Lewis County Senior Long-Range Planner Mindy Brooks held a community meeting in Onalaska to begin discussing possible updates to the town’s subarea plan. An online survey was created for residents to share their thoughts on what infrastructure and improvements they believe Onalaska will need in the future.

Any Onalaska residents who have yet to complete the survey still have until July 31 to fill it out, according to a news release from the county. To take the survey, visit https://tinyurl.com/2kudj6f3.

Additionally, Brooks is planning another community meeting next month at the Onalaska Elementary School’s multipurpose room, located at 540 Carlisle Ave. in Onalaska. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. on Aug. 23.

County staff will summarize the process of updating Onalaska’s subarea plan and answer questions residents may have.

The Onalaska community already adopted a subarea plan in 2017, but Brooks said the old plan didn’t meet all Washington state requirements for a subarea plan and needs to be updated. With a plan in place, the community will be prepared for growth over the next 20 years, Brooks said.
