At halftime against Toutle Lake, Onalaska held a two-score lead, but the Loggers weren’t pleased with how they were playing.
“It started off kinda slow,” Onalaska coach Mazen Saade said. “They weren’t pleased … We talked about it at half.”
The Loggers dominated the second half, scoring 46 points in the final two frames to run away with a 70-14 blowout victory.
“I thought it was a tale of two halves,” Saade said. “As a whole, I was proud of them.”
The Loggers scored in all three phases, including three defensive touchdowns.
Haze Hamrick returned a kickoff return 80 yards for a score, Carson Albertson returned an interception for 50 yards, Lane Gordon added a 30-yard pick-six, and Morgan Allen scored a 25-yard scoop-and-score on the game’s final play.
Gordon added 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and Ethan Thayer impressed again by scoring four total touchdowns and tallying 311 rushing yards.
As a team, the Loggers finished with 431 yards on the ground, and in true Onalaska fashion, they had zero passing yards.
“I was proud of the guys for the second half,” Saade said.
The Loggers (6-3) will play either Raymond-South Bend, Forks, or Ilwaco in a crossover next week. Those three teams will play a Kansas tiebreaker for the West’s final two crossover spots in Montesano on Saturday.
