Onalaska’s season came to an end on Monday in Montesano, where the seventh-seeded Loggers were eliminated from the 2B District 4 Tournament with a 5-3 loss to No. 3 Raymond/South Bend.
The Loggers got on the board first against the reigning district champions, scoring in the third on an RBI double from Kate Zandell, but the Ravens tied it in the bottom of the inning before plating three in the fourth to take the lead.
Abby Ellis hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth to get the Loggers back within two, but RSB again answered with a run of its own in the bottom half.
Onalaska’s best chance for a breakthrough came in the sixth, when three straight walks loaded the bases with just one out, but only one of those runs scored on a fielder’s choice. The other two runners, the potential tying runs, were stranded.
Braelyn Babb pitched all six innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out five, while Zandell and Ellis combined to drive in Onalaska’s three runs. Babb, Kaiyah Sandridge, and Kennedy Kinsman added hits, and Sandridge scored a run.
The Loggers end their season 9-10, and they will graduate five seniors: Sandridge, Jaelyn Auman, Randi Haight, Zandell, and Renzy Marshall.
