A 51-year-old Olympia man was arrested Friday after allegedly starting a fire next to a Centralia medical facility, according to police.
Mark S. Hipp was booked into the Lewis County Jail following the incident, which was reported at about 4 p.m.
According to Centralia police, Hipp started a fire next to a medical facility in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road, an area that includes Valley View Health Center, Providence Centralia Hospital and other medical facilities.
The Riverside Fire Authority extinguished the fire after finding that it was still smoldering underground.
Hipp is expected to face a first-degree arson charge, which is a Class A felony.
