Oakville’s Lewis Koser won a discus district championship in Tacoma on Thursday, besting the field by more than 10 feet with a throw of 151 feet, two inches.
It marked a new personal best for Koser, and it became the second-best throw of any 1B male in the state this spring.
Koser also qualified for state in the shot put, where he finished as the district runner-up with a heave of 44 feet, one inch, also a personal best.
Pe Ell’s Calan McCarty recorded two top-3 finishes, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.51 seconds and placing third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.59 seconds.
Eli Mason finished fifth in the 110 with a time of 17.50 seconds, and Jakob Hayes finished sixth in the triple jump by leaping 38 feet, 7.75 inches, which set a new personal record.
As a team, the Pe Ell boys finished seventh.
