Scoring on offense, defense and special teams allowed the Acorns to blow by Ocosta 48-26 on Friday night in Ocosta in a Class 1B Southwest League victory. It gives first-year head coach Camren Bowes his first win.
“Pretty stoked,” Bowes admitted. “Being able to execute what the new coaches put in and (see it) come to fruition.”
Koser, the two-time Class 1B state discus champion, found the end zone four times. Three of them were on the ground and he darted across the field for a kickoff return touchdown. Gio Rodas had a rushing TD and a pick-six.
Koser finished with 110 yards on eight carries while Rodas eclipsed 200 yards of offense. Defensively, Jordan Eichelberger had four sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble for the Acorns.
Oakville-North River has a short week with a road trip to North Beach on tap for Thursday. The game was moved due to ref availability.
“Gotta let it linger for 24 hours, then move on,” Bowes said. “The seniors have instilled in the young guys that you can’t celebrate the season after one win.”
