The Seattle Police Department was investigating after a spray of gunfire left over 80 shell casings in a North Seattle neighborhood Saturday.

No one was injured, SPD Detective Shane Weatherford said, but the shooting has left neighbors with bullet-ridden vehicles and homes.

Around 8:15 a.m., numerous 911 calls reported a large number of shots fired in Seattle’s Haller Lake neighborhood, near North 107th Street and Stone Way North.

A resident in a nearby building reported several bullets came into her apartment via the window and one came very close to hitting her, Weatherford said in an email.

Officers found over 80 shell casings, consisting of five calibers associated with rifles and handguns, Weatherford said.

Witnesses reported a black sedan fleeing east on North 107 Street and turning north onto Aurora Avenue North. Officers worked with the Real Time Crime Center to find footage. The officers saw a black sedan driving north with what appeared to be substantial bullet damage, Weatherford said.

Officers searched for the vehicle but did not locate it, he said. No suspects were in custody as of Saturday evening.

On Thursday, another shooting left about 120 shell casings about seven blocks south, in the 10000 block of Aurora Avenue North, according to police.

Businesses and residents have been putting pressure on city leaders to address persistent gun violence and sex trafficking in the neighborhood, with activists marching in protest in June.
