Travelers on Interstate 5 in Lewis County are encouraged to plan ahead of nighttime lane closures and delays this week.

Beginning Thursday, June 12, Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) maintenance crews will repair and install permanent sensors that collect data on vehicle types and volumes along I-5 just south of Chehalis.

The data collected will help check traffic flow, guide road projects and improve safety on the highway, according to a WSDOT news release.

The left lane of northbound I-5 between Rush Road, milepost 73.8, and Labree Road, milepost 75.5, will close Thursday and Friday night from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Additionally, the left lane of southbound I-5 between 13th Street, milepost 76.6, and Labree Road, milepost 75.5, will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.
