Fairly, a new vacation rental management company with a focus on empowering local real estate agents and housekeepers, is launching with properties in Packwood and Ashford, according to a news release from the company’s founder and CEO Eric Breon.
Breon also founded and ran Vacasa, another vacation rental management company that started in Washington state, and is managing more than 38,000 vacation homes in 41 U.S. states along with properties in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Belize.
“It’s been four years since I ran Vacasa, and in that time, I experienced property management both as a guest and a homeowner. I’m not impressed with the direction the industry has taken,” Breon said in the release. “Companies have been squeezing housekeeper pay while living costs grew. Excessive fees are rampant. And increasingly, when you call a property management company, you end up having your call routed to someone who isn’t local.”
He stated that Fairly isn’t going to be a traditional property management company as it will focus on helping local real estate agents and housekeepers grow their own businesses — mainly by sharing half of Fairly’s fee with them.
Both real estate agents and housekeepers get 25% each of Fairly’s fee. He added with real estate sales slowing recently, some real estate agents have had to take pay cuts of around 50% over the past year.
“Exceptional local real estate agents are a tremendous resource for people looking to buy a vacation home that they intend to rent,” Breon said. “Historically, they’ve bowed out as soon as the property closes. With Fairly, they take them one step further, helping their owner get started renting. I know vacation rentals are a controversial topic in many towns. We want to be a responsible partner on this front. With Fairly, more of the money stays local, and our rentals in Packwood and Ashford can help support other businesses in the community, creating jobs and bringing in tax revenue.”
Currently, Fairly is actively recruiting both real estate agents and housekeepers in the Packwood and Ashford areas.
