New TravelCenters of America truck stop coming to Napavine

Commuters and commercial truck drivers on Interstate 5 will have a new gas station complete with six new restaurants and more next year once construction of the new TravelCenters of America (TA) full-service truck stop — currently being built off of Exit 72 in Napavine — is complete.

With construction already underway as of earlier this month, TA Napavine’s owners, Gurinderjit Sidhu, Damanjit Sidhu and Manpreet Singh, held a ceremonial groundbreaking event on Tuesday, Nov. 21, with their families, TA representatives, members of RB Engineering, Sterling Breen Crushing, and Mountain Construction, and members of the Napavine City Council.

According to Gurinderjit Sidhu, they hope to have the TA Napavine open by August 2024.

“However, with construction in the Pacific Northwest, you never know what sort of weather delays may happen,” Sidhu said.

While Sidhu and his partners eyed a few possible locations for their new truck stop in Washington, once they looked at Napavine, they knew they found the right spot.

“Once we visited the Napavine location, we fell in love with the opportunity as well as the community and did everything we could to make it work,” Sidhu said.

When the truck stop is complete, it will feature a three-bay commercial truck repair garage, an eight-lane diesel refueling station for commercial trucks, 10 multi-gas fuel pumps, a CAT scale for weighing trucks, more than 100 parking spots for commercial trucks and more than 75 parking spots for cars.

Additionally, a 15,000-square-foot truck stop building will be built with a truck drivers’ lounge, eight showers, a laundry room, a convenience store and six restaurants, including a Cinnabon, Jimmy John’s, Jamba Juice, Sbarro, an Indian restaurant and a KFC with a drive-thru.

“Nothing on the site is being leased out,” Sidhu added. “Everything is owned and operated by us.”

TA Napavine is expected to create at least 40 jobs in the community, and Sidhu and his family will live on-site to run the truck stop.

“We're treating this project like our baby and we want to make sure we provide the community and travelers an unforgettable experience,” Sidhu said. “The City of Napavine has welcomed us with open arms and we couldn't have asked for a better community. It is like one big family and we are proud to call this our new home very soon.”

Once complete, TA Napavine will be located on 121 Hamilton Road off Exit 72 on I-5.
